How is it made?

It's “just” a cushion? Think again! The quality of your cushion is largely determined by the filling it contains, and there are quite a few types of fillings. For polyester-filled cushions alone, we can work with 5 different types, resulting in a softer or firmer cushion. The fabrics used also have a big impact on the feel!

And then there are flame retardant, siliconized or recycled polyesters, and the shape of the fibers can also vary. We are talking about solid, hollow, conjugate and ball fibers, among others. In addition to polyester, we also work with memory foam, or with a mix of fillings. Combine all this with different ticking and the possibilities become endless!

For
After

Our production process broadly consists of the following steps:

Step 1: Production of the thick.
This can be done either manually or fully automatically, by welding the fabrics together. This depends on the chosen cover. For our best-selling pillows, we purchase ready-made pillowcases.
Step 2: Preparing the filling material.
Depending on the filling chosen, the fibers either need to be opened or are immediately ready for production. Polyester fibers are delivered in compressed bales, which must first pass through a bale breaker, after which they pass through a fine opener. After these two steps, the fibers are sufficiently opened and ready for the next step.
Step 3: Filling the cushions
Our newest machine is Italian-made and can easily be considered the "Ferrari" of filling machines! This line works on the "blow filling" principle, where the fibers pass through a fan and are blown into the demolition material. The operator sets the filling weight and tolerance on the monitor. The machine then weighs the correct amount of material. Each pillow is therefore weighed precisely!
Step 4: Closing the cushions
Depending on the model, the cushions are either stitched or zippered. A zipper allows the cushions to be refilled or filled, if needed. This is especially important for pillows, but can also be useful for inner cushions.
Step 5: Packaging
Our pillows are usually vacuum-packed, saving significantly on transport and storage costs. Where possible, we opt to deliver pillows individually packaged or in carrying bags. This is especially true for pillows. When the pillow arrives, it's important to remove it from the vacuum packaging as soon as possible so it can regain its original volume.
